If You Aren’t Mobile Friendly, You’re Doing it Wrong

There seems to be some sort of disconnect between recruiters using social media to judge their potential candidates, but not using it to find their talent. In a candidate driven job market, recruiters need to be where the job seeker pool is. And social media is deep.

A continually increasing 79%1 of job seekers were using social media during their job search. Also, according to Jobvite, 55%2 of recruiters don’t have mobile career websites.

With so much traffic coming from mobile, and nearly everyone having a phone attached to their hand, employers need to shift focus on becoming more mobile friendly. Social media is a great way for companies to show potential, and current employees, their culture and appreciation.

  • Nearly 2 in 3 say their employer does not (or know how to) use social media to promote job openings.1
  • Nearly 3 in 4 say their employer does not (or know how to) promote their employment brand on social media.1
  • 54% of job seekers read company reviews from employees1
  • 52% of job seekers research salary information1
  • Only 33%3 of employers encourage employees to use social media to share news and information about their work or employer. But there is a 50% increase in employees recommending a company’s products or services when the employer encourages social sharing.

Still not convinced? Let’s take a look at where the job seekers are looking for their next job.

  • In bed, 52%2
  • At their current job, 37%2
  • In the restroom, 15%2

Mobile devices are becoming more than just a product, they are becoming a way of life, a lifeline for many. And with everyone constantly on the go, companies must be aware of their online presence and social media reach to keep up with competition for sourcing new hires.

Also, Google search your own company using your smartphone. Try and visualize and relate to the online experience job seekers are having when they are searching for jobs using mobile.
